Four months until August. The album is very nearly finished.
I want to say that carefully because I have been saying some version of “the album is progressing well” for over a year now and it might be starting to sound like the claim a person makes when they are not actually sure the thing will ever be done. It will be done. It is nearly done. The final sessions are happening now and the end is genuinely in sight.
What the last few months of making Fragile World have involved is the kind of work that doesn’t produce dramatic new material (apart from in one instance…) but that determines whether the material you have is fully realised. The mixing decisions, the sequencing, the question of whether each track is contributing what the album needs it to contribute or whether it needs more time. These are not glamorous problems but they are the problems that stand between a collection of good tracks and an actual album.
The tracklist is essentially locked. The emotional arc of the release is clear. What remains is making sure every element of every track is doing exactly what it should be doing.
August is the target. I believe I can make it.
